Analyst – FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) | Onward Energy
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Onward Energy, located in Charlotte. Onward Energy is an independent power platform that owns and operates over 7 GW of utility-scale wind, solar and natural gas generation projects across the U.S. This role contributes to the company’s strategic goals by performing budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support corporate decisions and evaluate progress. The Analyst will utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis of operations to map out future goals and plans.

• Mission: To support corporate decisions and strategic goal achievement by performing budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, and interpreting financial and operational data.
• Tech Stack: MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint), budget planning software (Adaptive Planning, Hyperion, Workday, SAP, etc.), ERP systems.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate on strategic and operational prioritization by performing appropriate financial planning and analysis.
• Financial Interpretation: Interpret and present financial analysis results to senior management.
• Reporting Design: Design and produce reports, financial, and performance indicators to support the business.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret financial and operational data and transfer it into meaningful information used to drive actions and results.
• Cross-functional Driving: Drive cross-functional transparency and cooperation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
• Experience: One (1) – Three (3) years of relevant experience in Power/Energy, Finance, Banking and/or Consulting. Experience with debt compliance (debt coverage ratios) and a general understanding of contracts/contract language.
• Skills: Strong competencies in FP&A analysis, critical thinking, ability to perform deep analysis to interpret data to understand the “Why?”, ability to understand GAAP and corporate accounting policies & procedures, excellent written and verbal communication skills, multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Bonus: MBA and/or CFA designation, functional knowledge and competencies in modeling and project finance.
