Equity Research Associate Analyst – Internet | Mizuho
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mizuho, operating under a hybrid working program. This role is essential for supporting a senior Internet analyst, focusing on deep research and financial modeling to produce insightful equity reports. The position contributes to the firm’s comprehensive financial services for clients across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia, specifically within the Internet sector.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Write: Write research reports, including company initiations, industry thought pieces, and earnings recaps.
• Model: Build dynamic industry models consisting of integrated Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements.
• Data: Source alternative data sets and simplify relevant industry and company information for inclusion in research reports.
• Research: Conduct proprietary research to evaluate the competitive landscape and analyze industry and company news.
• Support: Help the senior analyst prepare for marketing events and conferences.

• Background: This position is suitable for an early-career professional with a background in financial services. The ideal candidate demonstrates intellectual curiosity, a drive to thoroughly investigate qualitative and quantitative questions, and an iterative approach to understanding key debates in stocks and sectors. A commitment to proactive problem-solving and a thirst for knowledge are also essential.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of prior equity research experience within the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) space or equivalent prior experience in investment banking is required. Demonstrated experience in building comprehensive financial models, including integrated financial statements, and proficiency in DCF-based valuation methodologies is a must.
• Skills: Strong analytical capabilities and advanced financial modeling skills are essential. Effective oral communication, organizational, and time management skills are required for managing multiple tasks and interactions. Proven ability to write clearly and concisely for research reports and communications, alongside the capacity to function independently while maintaining a collegial and collaborative approach with team members, is critical.
• Bonus: Preferred candidates hold Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 licenses, or have achieved CFA Level 1 certification. A strong interest in AI tools and a commitment to mastering their ethical and rigorous implementation into workflow, without over-reliance or outsourcing critical thinking, is also preferred.
