Analyst, Private Equity Secondaries | Ares Management

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Ares Management, located in New York, NY. Ares Secondaries has pioneered and innovated within secondary markets across three decades and a range of alternative asset classes, including private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and credit. Today, Ares Secondaries is a market leader across GP-led, LP-led, and preferred equity structured transactions. This role supports the Private Equity Secondaries Investment Team by evaluating new opportunities and managing existing investments, contributing to the firm’s legacy of driving differentiated and proprietary transactions.

• Mission: Evaluate and manage private equity secondary investment opportunities to drive differentiated transactions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Investment Evaluation: Evaluate investment opportunities through detailed due diligence, industry research, benchmarking, and financial modelling.
• Analytical Review: Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on buyout, growth and other private equity limited partnership interests and underlying companies.
• Presentation Preparation: Prepare and present investment recommendations to committees and the broader investment team.
• Transaction Support: Support the investment team in transaction management and monitoring of existing investments.
• Relationship Building: Build industry relationships by engaging with fund sponsors, advisors, and attending conferences and sponsor meetings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Strong academic record, demonstrated leadership skills, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with core domain knowledge in private equity secondaries, investment banking, private equity, or principal investing.
• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in private equity secondaries, investment banking, private equity, or principal investing.
• Skills: Advanced financial analysis, modelling, and presentation capabilities; ability to work independently; ability to thrive in collaborative deal teams.
