The Tone:
This is an internship at MacLean-Fogg, located in Mundelein, Illinois. MacLean-Fogg is a fourth-generation, family-owned American manufacturing company that designs and manufactures engineered components and solutions for automotive and industrial markets. In this role, you will connect classroom learning with real-world financial decisions, helping to analyze business performance and enable teams to make informed choices within a manufacturing environment. You will contribute to turning financial information into better operational decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Information Management: Gather, organize, and verify financial or operating information to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Financial Analysis: Utilize spreadsheets and other tools to analyze financial data, investigate differences, and clearly explain your findings.
• Operational Support: Support core finance and accounting activities, learning how they connect to the broader manufacturing business.
• Project Ownership: Take ownership of a meaningful project, which might involve investigating spending trends, improving a financial report, or analyzing product costs.
• Recommendation & Presentation: Develop practical findings and recommendations from your project, and present them to leadership at the program’s conclusion.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or a closely related business discipline, with relevant coursework. All college class levels are welcome.
• Experience: Basic familiarity with Excel or similar spreadsheet tools, demonstrated through coursework, projects, or work experience. No previous internship experience is required.
• Skills: A keen interest in understanding financial information and how a manufacturing business operates, coupled with a willingness to learn, ask questions, check your work, and follow through on commitments. Ability to work full time and on site for the internship duration, with limited flexibility for academic calendars.
• Bonus: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; coursework or projects involving accounting, financial analysis, economics, statistics, or business data; experience using spreadsheet formulas, charts, pivot tables, or lookup functions; experience organizing information, managing a student-organization budget, improving a process, or explaining a recommendation.
