The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, supporting Choate Investment Advisors (ChoateIA). ChoateIA is a registered investment advisor providing comprehensive investment management advice to client families, advising on $11.0 billion and designing wealth strategies for billions more. This role is crucial for delivering sustainable, long-term investment results free from conflicts, and singularly focused on client success by contributing to the investment process and client solutions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Public Market Research: Research and recommend public market investments, including sourcing ideas, conducting fundamental analysis, and maintaining sector coverage for the investment team.
• Manager Evaluation: Evaluate and conduct comprehensive due diligence on third-party investment managers, leading meetings and providing investment recommendations.
• Portfolio Oversight: Continuously monitor existing portfolio holdings and support ongoing investment due diligence efforts.
• ESG Integration: Assist in incorporating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations into the investment process for both public companies and third-party managers.
• Client Support: Contribute to client presentation materials, client-related projects, and other ad hoc initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS required) and a strong academic record, coupled with intellectual curiosity and a strong passion for investment research.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in equity research.
• Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to perform fundamental and quantitative analysis; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Proficiency in financial modeling using MS Excel and robust quantitative skills; Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail; Competence with Microsoft Office applications.
• Bonus: Experience with investment research platforms and applications; Progress toward an MBA or CFA designation.
