MBA Consultant, Finance | 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC.

The Tone:
This is a temporary, 10-week project-based role at 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc., located in Westerville, OH, with a hybrid schedule requiring four days in the office and one day remote. The company operates as a leading provider of gourmet food and floral gifts, comprising a family of well-known brands. This position is critical for supporting a strategic initiative focused on deep financial analysis, evaluating business performance, and enhancing operational efficiency throughout the organization. The individual in this role will collaborate closely with finance leadership and various cross-functional teams to analyze business trends, evaluate financial performance, and contribute to significant strategic decision-making. This role is specifically designed for a current MBA student or recent graduate seeking hands-on consulting or corporate finance experience, offering the chance to deliver high-impact business insights by identifying opportunities to improve profitability, optimize spending, and increase financial visibility through data-driven insights and modeling.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and comprehensive analysis pertaining to financial performance, budgeting processes, and overarching business strategy, identifying key trends and drivers.
• Performance Insight: Analyze financial data, business trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify potential financial risks, uncover growth opportunities, and generate actionable operational insights across the organization.
• Strategic Modeling: Build sophisticated financial models to accurately evaluate potential revenue growth initiatives, assess profitability drivers, identify cost optimization opportunities, and analyze investment opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
• Stakeholder Communication: Develop clear, concise executive-level presentations, detailed financial reports, and summarized financial overviews for leadership stakeholders, effectively communicating complex financial information.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with various cross-functional teams, including finance, analytics, operations, and merchandising, to gather essential data, validate findings, refine recommendations, and support strategic decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s Degree. This role is for an MBA candidate or recent MBA graduate with core domain knowledge in financial analysis, business performance, and operational efficiency.
• Experience: Practical hands-on experience in either consulting or corporate finance is expected for this early-career position.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis, the ability to analyze business performance and identify operational efficiencies, strong data analysis capabilities, expertise in financial modeling, and the skill to develop executive-level presentations.
