The Tone:

The role is essential for helping clients such as REITs, real estate private equity firms, and operators make informed investment and reporting decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Valuations: Work alongside Analysts, Associates, and Officers to value commercial real estate investments across diverse asset classes such as multifamily, retail, industrial, and hospitality.
• Client Advisory: Actively participate in various client engagements, providing valuation and advisory work related to investor and financial reporting, due diligence, and transaction opinions.
• Data Analysis: Collect, manipulate, and analyze property, market, and financial data by conducting in-market interviews, confirming comparable transactions, and utilizing specialized data subscription sources.
• Financial Modeling: Prepare complex cash flow models using Excel and/or ARGUS software, analyzing available data to estimate revenues, costs, and rates of return.
• Value Estimation: Estimate the value of real estate investments at various levels of the capital stack, including asset-level, equity, preferred equity, and debt valuations, and prepare comprehensive reports for clients.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should possess 2-3 years of experience within the real estate industry, with a strong preference for direct real estate valuation experience demonstrating robust analytical capabilities.
• Experience: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, particularly in modeling and macros, and PowerPoint is essential. Experience using ARGUS software is strongly preferred for this role.
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a robust work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail are critical for success. The ability to multi-task effectively, along with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, are also highly valued.
• Bonus: Undergraduate coursework in real estate finance, valuation, or related fields, knowledge of real estate valuation theory, progress towards industry certifications such as MAI, CCIM, or certified general real estate appraiser, CPA/CFA credentials, and a willingness to travel are advantageous.
