Associate, Energy, Infrastructure, & Transition, Global Investment Banking | CIBC US

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CIBC US, located in New York, NY. CIBC US is building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world. This role is crucial for helping clients achieve their goals and making a meaningful impact on CIBC’s bottom line through transaction and financing execution and client relationship support. The position offers an ability to observe and influence the strategic direction of clients’ businesses with exposure to company executives and board of directors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Execution: Assist in executing all facets of the group’s investment banking mandates.
• Research: Conduct industry research and analysis to identify and analyze investment banking business opportunities.
• Proposals: Prepare client proposals and pitches, and oversee Analyst work for new and existing client mandates.
• Modeling: Develop and audit sophisticated financial models for transaction and financing execution.
• Analysis: Lead industry comparable value and transaction precedent analyses to support client recommendations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree in Finance, accounting, mathematics, computer science or economics.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or private equity, including meaningful financial modeling and analysis.
• Skills: Excellent analytical ability with knowledge of valuation techniques, cash flow, and returns analyses; strong quantitative technical skills in basic computer applications and industry technology; well-developed interpersonal, relationship-building, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Completion of a CA or CFA, an MBA or Masters in Finance; working knowledge of the power/renewables, utilities, infrastructure, midstream, and/or energy transition sectors; direct investment banking experience.
