Segment Finance Analyst II | Medica

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role with Medica, requiring an employee to work onsite at their Minnetonka, MN office, on average, 3 days per week. Medica is a nonprofit health plan serving over a million members across Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Missouri, dedicated to personalized health care and strong provider partnerships. As a Segment Finance Analyst II, you will be instrumental in analyzing complex financial data, identifying key trends, and providing data-driven recommendations that directly impact the organization’s financial health and strategic decisions. Your work will contribute to Medica’s mission of creating a community of connected care where every member feels valued.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including detailed variance analysis and key performance metrics.
• Financial Modeling: Build and maintain robust financial models to support essential processes such as budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with diverse cross-functional teams, including Product, Sales, and Actuarial departments, to ensure overall financial accuracy and strategic alignment.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) diligently, conducting thorough variance analysis and providing actionable recommendations to management.
• Strategic Evaluation: Assist in the comprehensive evaluation of new products, pricing strategies, and potential market expansion opportunities to inform business decisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or an equivalent field with related experience.
• Experience: At least 3 years of professional work experience beyond the completion of your degree.
• Skills: Expert or advanced proficiency with MS Excel; strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills; proven ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
• Bonus: Prior experience in the healthcare industry or knowledge of healthcare economics; experience with TM1 and/or SQL; proficiency in PowerPoint; a result-driven and detail-oriented approach with the capability to manage and collaborate on multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills; adaptability and a fast learning ability.
