Senior Analyst / Associate – Power & Utilities M&A | Venture Search
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at a Tier 1 global independent investment bank, located in New York. The firm advises corporate clients, financial sponsors, infrastructure investors, utilities, and energy transition platforms across a broad range of strategic transactions, including M&A, capital raises, and strategic advisory. This role is crucial for executing complex, high-profile deals within the active and strategically important Power & Utilities sector. What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Lead the execution of live M&A transactions, including sell-side, buy-side, carve-out, and strategic advisory processes.
• Analyze: Develop comprehensive valuation analyses, such as DCF, trading comparables, precedent transaction analysis, and LBO-style analysis.
• Model: Construct and maintain detailed financial models, operating models, and transaction analyses for various scenarios.
• Prepare: Design and create client-facing materials, including pitch books, management presentations, information memoranda, and board materials.
• Coordinate: Manage due diligence workstreams and facilitate interactions with clients, counterparties, advisers, and investors.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic background with a strong academic record. Core domain knowledge in investment banking, corporate finance, M&A advisory, or a highly relevant transaction-focused environment.
• Experience: Senior Analyst or Associate-level experience from an investment bank, M&A advisory firm, infrastructure advisory team, or relevant sector-focused platform. For Associate candidates, prior experience managing junior team members and coordinating workstreams is highly advantageous.
• Skills: Strong technical skills across valuation, financial modelling, accounting, and transaction analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality client materials. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Bonus: Prior exposure to Power & Utilities, Energy, Infrastructure, or Renewables sector is strongly preferred. A proactive, commercial, and intellectually curious approach. Willingness to relocate to New York.
