Vice President – Investments | talisman

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at talisman, located in New York City. Talisman has been retained by a leading investment platform focused on private equity and private credit investments in middle-market sustainable infrastructure businesses, managing hundreds of millions across various funds. This senior role leads new investments from screening through closing, supports portfolio companies, and includes meaningful origination responsibility, directly contributing to the growth and transformation of sustainable infrastructure businesses within sustainable infrastructure and energy sectors.

The TL;DR

• Team: Investment team; reports to senior leadership and the investment committee
• Mission: Lead the execution of new investments from screening through closing and support portfolio companies through value creation and exit in sustainable infrastructure.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Due Diligence: Lead due diligence workstreams across commercial, financial, technical, legal, and tax topics, including managing external advisors.
• Transaction Structuring: Structure and negotiate transactions, developing term sheets and definitive documentation.
• Financial Modeling: Build, review, and pressure-test complex financial models and underwriting analyses for investment opportunities.
• Portfolio Management: Serve as a key relationship lead for portfolio companies, monitoring performance and engaging strategically with management teams.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and manage junior investment professionals, providing guidance and oversight.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier accredited university. Career level: Manager. Core domain knowledge in private equity, investment banking, infrastructure investing, renewable energy development, and/or project finance.
• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, infrastructure investing, renewable energy development, and/or project finance. Demonstrated transaction experience across origination, structuring, diligence, negotiation, execution, and portfolio management. Experience managing junior team members and external advisors.
• Skills: Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities. Strong understanding of legal and commercial documentation. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
