Investment & Valuation Associate | RWE
The Tone:
This is a full-time, permanent role at RWE Americas, LLC, located in Chicago, IL with a hybrid work model expecting three days in the office each week. RWE Americas, a subsidiary of RWE, is a US-based energy company dedicated to meeting the growing energy demand across the United States. The company operates approximately 13 GW of power projects across 27 states, with a workforce of 2,000 employees, developing, constructing, and operating wind, solar, and battery storage projects, alongside natural gas-powered generation. This Investment & Valuation Associate role is critical as it supports the company’s strong US growth ambitions, delivering key analysis for valuation assignments and contributing to investment recommendations, thereby enabling approximately $20 billion in planned US investment over the next six years. What You’ll Actually Do
• Investment Analysis: Develop analyses of investment opportunities and communicate results clearly, owning discrete analytical tasks and modeling deliverables across solar, wind, and battery storage investments under senior guidance.
• Decision Process Support: Draft sections of investment memos and synthesize analytical inputs, supporting the preparation of decision materials for senior management.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate across the I&V team and coordinate inputs from development, commercial, and technical functions to gather and validate project data and insights, adapting communication to the audience.
• Model Quality Assurance: Propose improvements to financial models and templates, and perform peer reviews and quality checks on financial models and analytical outputs.
• Process Improvement: Support the identification and implementation of enhancements to investment processes and financial models, including exploring advanced digital tools.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a similar university degree, with foundational knowledge of valuation methodologies, especially Discounted Cash Flow (DCF).
• Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Finance roles.
• Skills: Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to run existing financial models, scenarios, and sensitivities with guidance; effective communication and presentation skills; ability to build and update financial models with growing fluency, applying valuation frameworks accurately; understanding of key valuation levers and basic assumptions that drive value, including capex, offtake pricing, and terms; capability to perform standard scenario analysis and begin identifying valuation sensitivities and potential optimizations.
• Bonus: Interest in renewable energy or energy markets.
