2026 Fall Financial Strategy Intern | Ephemeris Net

The Tone:
This is a temporary, part-time internship at Ephemeris Net, located in El Segundo, CA or Oakland, CA. Ephemeris Net is a pre-seed space networking company focused on extending the internet to space by creating foundational infrastructure for how data moves through space. The company is developing solutions to provide connectivity for all space users through collaborative engineering. This role is crucial because building robust financial strategies, accurate projections, and effective commercial positioning is as vital as the core technology itself. You will help build financial strategy that directly supports growth, differentiation, and strategic decision-making at a cutting-edge space infrastructure company.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Temporary, Part-time (3 days/week minimum for 3+ months)
• Location: In-person, El Segundo, CA or Oakland, CA
• Pay: $70400 yearly (prorated for internship length)
• Team: Reports to the Head of Government Programs & Finance, who serves as primary mentor.
• Mission: Build financial strategy that drives the business forward by supporting growth, differentiation, and customer acquisition.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Valuation & Modeling: Explore non-dilutive and hybrid financing instruments relevant to the company’s stage and sector.
• Valuation & Modeling: Build or refine financial models supporting venture capital fundraise efforts, including unit economics and revenue projections.
• Commercial & Government Deals: Conduct market mapping and competitive analysis to identify target customer segments and strategic partnership opportunities.
• Commercial & Government Deals: Build pricing models and business case analyses for new product offerings or customer engagements.
• Partnership Strategy: Directly negotiate six-figure procurement deals, balancing vendor relationship development and financial success.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or masters degree in business, finance, engineering, public policy, international relations, or a related field.
• Experience: Prior experience in consulting, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, or corporate finance.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, including comfort with financial modeling, data analysis, and structuring ambiguous problems.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and persuasively under deadline pressure.
• Skills: Ability to work independently on a defined project with mentorship and regular check-ins, and to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
• Skills: Eligibility to work in the US and handle controlled information (US person as per 15 CFR 772.1).
• Bonus: Prior experience in the aerospace, defense, or space industry, or familiarity with venture capital fundraising processes and investor relations.
