Job Description

Primary Research Analyst | Amca

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Amca, located in El Segundo, CA. Amca is dedicated to rebuilding America’s industrial base by rapidly developing and manufacturing critical components and subsystems for aviation, military, and core infrastructure platforms. Since the 1990s, the nation’s capacity to produce and maintain essential systems has diminished, creating a significant gap between demand and capability. This role is crucial for closing that gap by identifying and strategizing Amca’s expansion into new industrial sectors, ensuring the company’s technology and playbook contribute directly to national production capacity.

The TL;DR
• Role: Flexible Seniority
• Type: Full-time
• Location: In-person, El Segundo, CA
• Pay: $140000–$280000 yearly
• Team: Growth team, reporting to the VP of Growth, and working closely with the rest of the leadership team, especially the CEO.
• Mission: Owns research into and strategy development of new market entry initiatives, determining new sectors for company expansion and how to execute them.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Own research into new market entry initiatives to identify untapped opportunities for Amca’s expansion.
• Develop strategic plans for Amca’s entry into new markets, ensuring alignment with company goals and capabilities.
• Determine which sectors within the industrial base, outside of aerospace and defense, Amca should bring its technology and playbook to next.
• Identify the most elegant and rapid methods to introduce Amca’s capabilities and operational model into newly targeted industrial sectors.
• Lead work that translates primary research directly into tangible shifts in the world, spearheaded by Amca’s actions as an industrial company.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Flexible seniority level with a demonstrated ability in fundamental research and strong financial sophistication.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience at a hedge fund is preferred, or possessing equivalent experience from other backgrounds that showcases creative, incisive research and financial acumen.
• Skills: Excellence in performing fundamental research, strong capabilities in strategy development for market entry, and an understanding of “special situations” within markets.
• Bonus: A desire to act directly on research findings rather than just thinking or making investment decisions, a passion for “special situations,” a skeptical view of the efficient market hypothesis, and an openness to heterodox theories of economics.
