Private Equity Associate – Technology/Software | Alexander Chapman

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Alexander Chapman, located in New York. The firm is a leading middle-market private equity firm with an established track record of investing in technology-enabled businesses, software, digital infrastructure, and broader TMT sectors. This role matters because it is a key addition to the investment team, playing an active role throughout the deal lifecycle from transaction execution to portfolio management and investment decision-making. What You’ll Actually Do
• Evaluate: Underwrite and assess new investment opportunities specifically within the technology, software, and broader TMT sectors.
• Model: Construct and maintain detailed financial and LBO models to inform investment decisions and analyses.
• Diligence: Conduct commercial, financial, and operational due diligence processes in collaboration with management teams and external advisors.
• Prepare: Develop comprehensive investment committee materials, valuation analyses, and transaction memoranda.
• Execute: Participate actively in deal execution, including managing financing processes, legal documentation, and transaction negotiations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record, ideally in a finance or business-related field.
• Experience: 2–5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, or a related investing role, including evaluating M&A transactions and conducting due diligence.
• Skills: Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capabilities, coupled with excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple transactions.
• Bonus: Prior exposure to software, technology, digital infrastructure, communications, or broader TMT sectors is preferred.
