Job Description

Strategic Finance Lead | AngelList

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at AngelList, located in a hybrid model primarily in New York City or San Francisco. AngelList builds the financial infrastructure to accelerate innovation by making it easier for more people to invest in world-changing companies. This role is critical in shaping the strategic investments and resource allocation for the Funds business, directly influencing how capital moves to startups at scale and ensuring the business makes better decisions and accelerates growth.

The TL;DR
• Role: Senior Lead
• Type: Full-time
• Location: Hybrid, New York, NY
• Pay: $170000+ annually
• Team: Member of the Funds leadership team
• Mission: Drive strategic resource deployment across go-to-market, product, engineering, customer relations, and operations to accelerate business growth and improve decision-making.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Narrative: Own the Funds division’s narrative on financial performance, constraints, and outlook, including mastery of the Funds P&L.
• Resource Allocation: Shape the distribution of capital, headcount, and resources across go-to-market, product, engineering, customer relations, and operations, making calls on what to fund or cut.
• Growth Planning: Drive quarterly growth planning and target-setting, encompassing bookings, pipeline generation, quota, and sales compensation.
• Commercial Strategy: Develop strategy, policy, and operations for product pricing and deal desk, founded on a detailed understanding of unit economics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior Professional with 6+ years of experience across strategic finance, consulting, or corporate strategy.
• Experience: Owned growth planning for a rapidly growing business or product line, not just reported on it. Built commercial mechanics including sales planning, incentive design, and pricing, all grounded in unit economics. Operated with broad scope, made senior judgment calls before data was clean, and shaped own mandate without a playbook.
• Skills: Ability to form sharp points of view on where to invest, build conviction, and drive alignment across leadership teams. Analytical acumen to get to answers quickly, applying AI where appropriate. Strong bias to action and the ability to communicate complex problems to executives in writing, in person, and through charts.
