Energy & Utilities Analyst | 1898 & Co.
The Tone:
This is a full-time position at 1898 & Co., located in Atlanta, GA. 1898 & Co., part of Burns & McDonnell, is a business, technology, and security solutions consultancy. Their Energy & Utilities team helps clients navigate technical, economic, and regulatory challenges across power generation and delivery systems. This role provides essential technical and analytical support for power system analysis, planning, and asset evaluation, contributing to informed client decision-making for reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy solutions.

• Mission: To provide technical and analytical support for power system analysis, planning, and asset evaluation to enable reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy solutions for clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Power System Analysis: Perform technical analysis for power system studies, including power flow, stability, short circuit, transient, and reliability analysis for generation and transmission and distribution systems.
• Power Supply Planning: Assist with power supply planning, resource evaluation, and system expansion studies for both fossil and renewable generation assets.
• Data Analysis: Analyze engineering, operational, and economic data to support technical assessments and consulting studies.
• Reporting & Presentations: Develop technical reports and client presentations that summarize analysis, assumptions, and recommendations.
• Modeling Support: Support transmission and distribution modeling and study work using industry-standard power system software tools.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited program.
• Experience: Basic knowledge in standard engineering techniques, principles, and procedures. Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred.
• Skills: Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment; proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite); strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program; minimum 3.0 GPA; involvement on campus or in the community.
