Summer Internship Youth Program | Barefoot Student
The Tone:
This is an internship at NY Race Track Chaplaincy, located in Elmont, NY. The NY Race Track Chaplaincy provides support and programs for the Backstretch community. This role is crucial for creating a safe, positive, and enriching summer experience for elementary-aged children while their parents work long hours at the racetrack, supporting their social, emotional, and recreational development.

• Pay: $500 weekly
• Team: Leads one adult and one teen assistant, reports to Chaplaincy staff
• Mission: Plan and lead a summer enrichment program for elementary-aged children from the Backstretch community.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Planning: Develop a weekly program plan that includes age-appropriate activities.
• Activity Leadership: Lead and facilitate daily activities, such as crafts, games, and sports.
• Child Supervision: Supervise children and ensure a safe, positive, and engaging environment at all times.
• Team Oversight: Provide guidance and oversight to the program’s assistants and any volunteers.
• Logistics Coordination: Coordinate all necessary logistics for approved off-site outings.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student with a focus on child program coordination or recreational development.
• Experience: Prior experience working with children in settings such as a camp, school, or ministry is preferred. Demonstrated strong organizational and leadership abilities are essential.
• Skills: Ability to independently plan structured activities, lead daily programs, effectively supervise children, and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
• Bonus: Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
