Payroll Administrator 1 | The Wine Group

This is a hybrid role at The Wine Group, located in Ripon, California, US. The Wine Group (TWG) is a leading producer of award-winning wines and alcoholic beverages, managing over 120 brands with operations in California, New York, and Australia. This role is essential for supporting the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees. The Payroll Administrator 1 ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, playing a key part in maintaining accurate employee pay records and resolving payroll-related inquiries.

• Mission: Ensure accurate and compliant weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing, maintain employee pay records, and serve as a primary contact for payroll inquiries and audits.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Payroll Processing: Verify timesheets accurately and calculate the gross to net pay for employees on both weekly and bi-weekly schedules.
• Record Management: Continuously maintain and update comprehensive payroll records, encompassing details for new hires, terminations, pay rate adjustments, and various benefit deductions.
• Compliance Assurance: Uphold strict compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including overtime and minimum wage requirements, alongside ensuring adherence to multiple Union contracts, AG Wage Order contracts, and garnishment regulations.
• Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile detailed payroll reports, diligently identify and resolve any discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy of check registers and positive pay files.
• Employee Support & Confidentiality: Serve as a primary contact for employee inquiries concerning payroll, taxes, and timekeeping, while rigorously maintaining the confidentiality of all employee records and sensitive payroll information.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Others. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in payroll, accounting, or a related field is preferred. This includes experience with multistate and multi-pay group payrolls.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong attention to detail and accuracy; proven ability to analyze payroll data, identify discrepancies, and resolve complex payroll issues; strong organizational, critical thinking, and customer service skills; excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Bonus: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and knowledge of Dayforce HCM (Human Capital Management) system are preferred. The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines, thrive in a high-pressure environment, and collaborate effectively in a team setting are also beneficial.
