Political Science Intern | Sherpa 6, Inc.
The Tone:
This is an internship at Sherpa 6, Inc., located in Springfield, VA, for Fall 2026. Sherpa 6 is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business focused on solving problems and delivering user-focused, design-driven solutions that are simple, functional, and effective, particularly for Warfighters. This role offers college students hands-on experience in government relations and public policy, helping them understand how legislative and regulatory activities impact corporate operations and market sectors, and how to develop effective advocacy strategies.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Springfield, VA
• Mission: This person will support the company’s objectives by tracking legislation, analyzing policies, and contributing to the development of advocacy strategies.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn Operations: Learn key business operations and how state, federal, or international legislative and regulatory activities impact corporate functions and market sectors.
• Synthesize Information: Synthesize political and policy developments into clear reports, briefing materials, and presentations for internal use.
• Assist Outreach: Help assist in coordinating external advocacy efforts and stakeholder outreach programs.
• Support Capitol Hill: Gain hands-on experience working in Capitol Hill, taking notes and preparing summaries for meetings with government officials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or International Relations.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience is explicitly required for this role.
• Skills: Exceptional research and writing skills are required to draft various policy documents; superior business acumen with the ability to understand the intersection of public policy and corporate strategy; self-motivated and confident to thrive in complex, matrixed corporate environments.
