Advancement – Individual Giving Internship | Whitney Museum of American Art
The Tone:
This is an internship at the Whitney Museum of American Art, located in New York, NY, with some onsite work required. The Whitney is a renowned institution, founded by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, that champions American art from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries by collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting it. This role is crucial for supporting the museum’s mission by contributing to the Individual Giving Department’s efforts to fiscally support exhibitions, programs, and strategic initiatives. The intern will help foster vital connections between the museum and its individual donors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct research pertaining to the Individual Giving Department’s objectives and needs.
• Event Support: Assist in the planning and execution of various donor events.
• Stewardship: Support donor stewardship activities, including event logistics and relationship management.
• Acknowledgment Processing: Contribute to the accurate and timely processing of tax acknowledgments for donations.
• Data Management: Aid in maintaining and managing donor data and records within the department.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate academic program.
• Experience: No previous museum experience is required for this role.
• Skills: Ability to conduct research; strong organizational skills for event planning and documentation; careful attention to detail for data management and acknowledgment processes.
• Bonus: Demonstrated interest in art and art history.
