Human Resources Coordinator | Inside Higher Ed

This role is vital for providing comprehensive human resources support, ensuring smooth operations for employees, retirees, and various university departments, thereby contributing directly to the university’s mission and values.

What You’ll Actually Do
• HR Documentation Management: Manages and audits electronic personnel action requests (ePARs) and corresponding employment documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Employee Support: Assists university employees, retirees, and department managers with a wide range of HR inquiries, including benefits questions, claims, and issues, providing timely and courteous service.
• Retirement Administration: Processes supplemental retirement enrollments, changes, and terminations, and explains TRS and ORP retirement plan options to new hires, ensuring informed decisions are made.
• Data Entry & Verification: Accurately processes, enters, and reviews HR data in PeopleSoft for new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefit changes, aligning with payroll schedules.
• Compliance & Onboarding/Offboarding: Completes and verifies I-9 documentation, supports new employee background checks, reviews payroll deductions, and manages the clearance process for terminating employees.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, with a focus on administrative or human resources support.
• Experience: Two years of relevant experience in an administrative or HR role.
• Skills: Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality, multi-task, and manage conflicting deadlines; excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
• Bonus: Experience working in Human Resources and/or Higher Education.
