Backend Developer Intern | Chesapeake Bay Seed Capital Fund (CBSCF)
The Tone:
This is an internship at Chesapeake Bay Seed Capital Fund (CBSCF), located in person at the University of Maryland, College Park, within the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech). The organization supports the University of Maryland’s NSF I-Corps programming, which guides researchers and startups in exploring the commercial potential of their work. This Backend Developer Intern role is essential for building a core web-based learning and customer discovery platform, directly contributing to improving participant outcomes and reducing administrative burden. The platform will centralize crucial program elements and provide advanced tools for analysis, serving participants, instructors, and administrators.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Infrastructure Development: Develop the server infrastructure essential for I-Corps program delivery, ensuring reliable platform performance.
• Content Management: Support learning content management functionalities within the new web-based platform.
• Workflow Automation: Implement systems for automating interview tracking for I-Corps participants.
• Scheduling & Coordination: Build features for team scheduling and coordination across cohorts.
• AI-Assisted Tools: Develop AI-assisted analysis workflows to support hypothesis development, interview execution, and post-interview analysis.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently a University of Maryland student.
• Experience: Prior experience with Python, REST APIs, relational databases, and secure data handling.
• Skills: Strong Python development, ability to design and implement REST APIs, proficiency in managing relational databases, and practical experience with secure data handling.
• Bonus: Experience with FastAPI, AWS services, background task processing, and deployment environments.
