The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Western Alliance Bank, located in CityScape. Western Alliance Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Alliance Bancorporation and Member FDIC, serves clients nationwide, encompassing various legacy bank brands. The Data Analyst will be responsible for producing the bank’s critical deposit and loan portfolios, playing a pivotal role in understanding and transforming complex business data into actionable insights. This involves building robust analytical solutions, performing advanced data analysis, and consistently ensuring data integrity. The position partners closely with regulatory stakeholders and data governance teams to deliver high-value reporting essential for both external filings and comprehensive company performance evaluation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Portfolio Management: Consolidate and prepare the bank’s deposit and loan portfolios, reconciling data in the database against the general ledger for accuracy.
• Analytical Solutions: Translate diverse business requests into actionable analytical solutions, working with large financial datasets to generate critical insights for stakeholders.
• Data Integrity: Validate general ledger data against source systems, reconcile key metrics to ensure consistency, and manage data quality within the portfolio data warehouse.
• Regulatory Reporting: Support the preparation of the bank’s regulatory filings and other essential financial reports required for external submissions and internal performance reviews.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all report definitions, calculation logic, and data lineage to ensure transparency and auditability.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field, complemented by strong accounting or finance skills.
• Experience: 1+ years of direct experience in Data Analytics & Data Management or a similar field. This includes demonstrated experience with financial or regulatory reporting, alongside entry-level knowledge of general banking operations (including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, or other commercial banking products) and applicable regulatory compliance.
• Skills: Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Excel, encompassing Lookups, PivotTables, and advanced formulas. Requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills, a meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to data quality, and intermediate speaking and writing communication skills, including the ability to present findings clearly.
• Bonus: Intermediate knowledge of SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is considered a plus.
