Supplier Industrialization Engineer Intern (Fall 2026) | Peak Energy
The Tone:
This is an internship at Peak Energy, located in Burlingame, CA. Peak Energy is an American venture dedicated to advancing globally proven Sodium-Ion battery systems, aiming to establish them as the storage standard for renewable energy and a resilient grid. The company’s leadership team possesses decades of expertise in scaling gigawatt-level innovation at world-class companies. This role is essential for supporting the development and qualification of outsourced components, directly contributing to the expansion of Peak Energy’s Cell and Energy Storage System product offerings.

• Mission: This person owns the technical development and qualification of outsourced parts at suppliers, ensuring they meet Peak Energy’s standards for its Cell and Energy Storage System products.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead and participate in discussions on DfX (Design for X) with internal and external stakeholders for outsourced parts and assemblies.
• Facilitate communication and clarification of the product specification package for parts and assemblies between the supplier and Peak Energy to ensure that the supplier is set up for success.
• Manage the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems to ensure the supplier complies with all the requirements of the Peak Part Approval Process (PAP).
• Assist the supplier with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) Implementation to ensure quality issues are investigated thoroughly, and necessary actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
• Identify and drive process improvement projects at suppliers to improve quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing graduate or undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Experience: Experience designing products or manufacturing processes through at least one internship or full-time work in New Product Introduction, Project/Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality/Industrialization, Metrology, Industrial Engineering, or Strategic Sourcing.
• Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD Software (CATIA preferred); Ability to read Engineering Drawings, with a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; Understanding of various manufacturing processes including Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal Stamping, 3D Printing, PCBA Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electromechanical Assembly, and Wire Harness Assembly; Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) & Production Part Approval Process (PPAP); Understanding of Problem-Solving Frameworks (such as 8D, A3, Pareto Analysis) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)/Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) Techniques used within these frameworks.
