Donor Engagement and Fundraising Intern | Winrock International
The Tone:
This is a paid internship at Winrock International, located remotely across the USA (excluding New York state). Winrock International is a global organization dedicated to empowering disadvantaged populations, increasing economic opportunity, and sustaining natural resources through its international development programs. This role is crucial for supporting the Development team’s fundraising strategy by enhancing donor engagement, managing donor data, and crafting compelling communications, directly contributing to Winrock’s mission and impact worldwide.

• Mission: This person solves the challenge of effectively researching, managing, and communicating with donors and prospects to secure funding for Winrock’s international development initiatives.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), donor database or CRM
What You’ll Actually Do
• Donor Research: Research prospective individual, foundation, and institutional donors and synthesize information into comprehensive profiles and portfolio materials.
• Data Management: Maintain accurate and current donor and prospect records within Winrock’s donor database or CRM, ensuring data quality and preparing basic reports.
• Donor Communications: Draft, edit, and format clear and compelling donor-facing content, including impact updates, program descriptions, and stewardship materials.
• Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance and project support to the Development team, including calendar management and meeting coordination.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior-level undergraduate, graduate student or recent graduate within 12 months of graduation with an academic focus in a field relevant to Winrock International’s work, such as international relations, political science, climate, or food systems.
• Experience: Experience preparing communications materials like brochures or presentations, and experience writing or contributing to grant applications or proposals.
• Skills: Exceptional writing and communication abilities, strong analytical and research skills, excellent organizational and time-management capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Bonus: International experience, familiarity with utilizing AI-assisted tools and resources, and a proven commitment to pursuing a career in international development.
