Youth Activism Remote Internship | TurnUp Activism

The Tone:
This is an unpaid remote internship at TurnUp Activism, located remotely. TurnUp Activism is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth civic engagement and activism to strengthen democracy, having registered and turned out over 500,000 young voters since 2019. This role matters because it provides young people with an opportunity to amplify their civic engagement, participate in activism on critical progressive and social justice issues, and strengthen democracy in the United States. Interns will impact change in their communities, refine their activist efforts, and connect with like-minded individuals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Participate in grassroots activism and advocacy on civic and social justice issues such as climate change, racial justice, and reproductive rights.
• Support existing voter registration drives at schools, and if none exist, initiate and perform new peer-to-peer or school-based registration efforts.
• Collaborate on voter turnout projects, perform targeted outreach, and engage in advocacy to boost youth voter turnout in the United States.
• Conduct civic and activism-related research and writing to become better educated and aware about various topics.
• Develop democratic competency by participating in civic actions and attending the TurnUp Speaker Series, featuring world-renowned speakers.
