The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Wakefield, NE
• Team: Reports to Safety Manager
• Mission: This role assists the safety department in day-to-day activities, coordination, and report preparation to support plant safety initiatives.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze safety-related data, including inspections, exposure levels, injuries, safety incentive programs, and SDS programs.
• Safety Oversight: Participate in safety audits and inspections, and assist with investigations into unsafe acts/conditions, ergonomic incidents, and injuries.
• Meeting Coordination: Coordinate various committee meetings, such as the safety committee, ergonomics team, first responder team, and haz-mat team.
• Employee Communication: Assist in communicating safety information to employees through group meetings, conferences, orientations, and newsletters, while helping enforce MFEPC Safety Policies and OSHA regulations.
• Reporting and Compliance: Compile data, generate reports by entering, verifying, and distributing information, and adhere to safe work practices, GMPs, and sanitary conditions to ensure food safety and quality.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a related field such as general safety, human resources, or business, with an Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two years of technical training in office skills, computer operations, bookkeeping/accounting, or human resources.
• Experience: At least one year of related experience. Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Skills: Strong understanding of OSHA standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
