CAD Detailer – Entry Level | Seating Solutions

The Tone:
This is an entry-level, in-person position at Seating Solutions, a part of InProduction, which is the largest provider of temporary seating, staging, structures, and scenic production for the United States events industry. The CAD Detailer creates and designs solutions for high-profile nationwide events, providing accurate drawings for sales staff, customers, building officials, and field technicians. This role is central to supporting sustained growth by ensuring precise technical documentation for all projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drafting: Draft accurate 2D drawings for standard scenic flats, steps, decks, pipe-and-base layouts, and basic stage plans.
• Conversion: Convert design sketches, notes, or existing drawings into usable drafting packages for project teams.
• Modeling: Create basic 3D models of simple scenic elements from 2D drawings to support team visualization and coordination.
• Preparation: Prepare and update drawing sets for fabrication and onsite installation based on feedback and redlines.
• Organization: Organize and maintain digital project files, track drawing versions, and manage drawing logs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level. High school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or formal CAD training is preferred.
• Experience: Proficiency in 2D drafting using VectorWorks and AutoCAD. An internship or experience in live events, scenic fabrication, or theatrical production is a plus.
• Skills: Proficiency in 2D drafting with VectorWorks and AutoCAD; Familiarity with SketchUp for basic scenic visualization; Understanding of standard scenic construction components and stage layouts; Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions; Organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
