Development Prospect Research Intern | Per Scholas
The Tone:
This is an internship at Per Scholas, located remotely within specific states across the United States. Per Scholas has spent 30 years driving opportunity in technology by training individuals, uplifting communities, and meeting employer needs through rigorous tech training programs. This role is crucial to the National Development team’s efforts to identify philanthropic leaders, corporations, and foundations that connect with the organization’s mission, thereby securing the resources needed to continue expanding impact.

• Pay: $20 hourly
• Team: Revenue Operations team, reports to Director, Development Prospect Management
• Mission: Identify philanthropic leaders, corporations, and foundations to support Per Scholas’ mission.
• Tech Stack: Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Calendars)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Prospect Research: Conduct deep-dive research on individual, corporate, and foundation prospects using internal databases, tools, and open-source intelligence.
• Screening: Analyze key indicators and public giving histories to estimate major gift interest and potential.
• Relationship Mapping: Identify “warm leads” by finding connections between Per Scholas networks and potential major donors or partners.
• Briefing Preparation: Assist in drafting concise, actionable research briefings to prepare leaders for high-level donor meetings.
• Data Management: Maintain and audit prospect data within the CRM and digital filing systems, ensuring current information in reports.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking institution, motivated by mission-driven work, with degrees aligning with Public & Nonprofit Management & Policy, Public Affairs, Nonprofit Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public & Nonprofit Management, Organizational Leadership (Nonprofit focus), Public Policy & Administration (Nonprofit track), or Public & Nonprofit Administration.
• Experience: Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week within the Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm window.
• Skills: Curious mindset, strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, ability to synthesize data, proficiency in Google Workspace, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Bonus: Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) or prospect research tools (e.g., iWave, Foundation Directory), up-to-date on available tech and ready to use tools like AI, experience or knowledge of nonprofit fundraising, moves management, or business processes.
