Supply Chain Intern | VIVA Railings LLC

The Tone:
This is an internship at VIVA Railings LLC, located in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. VIVA Railings operates in a manufacturing environment, producing railing systems. This role is crucial for supporting inventory optimization and operational improvement initiatives within the supply chain. The intern’s work will directly contribute to developing data-driven planning models, improving stocking strategies, and standardizing essential operational processes, which are key to maintaining efficiency and balancing operational continuity.

• Team: Reports directly to Supply Chain and Manufacturing leadership
• Mission: Develop a practical, data-driven inventory planning model to improve stocking strategies while balancing operational continuity, supplier lead times, demand variability, and manufacturing risk.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, data visualization tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Analyze historical inventory transactions and consumption trends to identify opportunities for inventory reduction.
• Develop: Assist in developing a practical inventory planning and replenishment model that accounts for demand variability, lead times, and irregular usage.
• Report: Build reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to improve inventory visibility and support decision-making processes.
• Document: Assist in documenting operational workflows and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across purchasing, inventory, warehouse, and production control functions.
• Present: Present findings and recommendations to Supply Chain leadership regarding inventory strategies and process improvements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Data Analytics, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Exposure to manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, or supply chain operations; familiarity with inventory management and replenishment concepts.
• Skills: Strong Excel, analytical, and organizational skills; comfortable working with large datasets and operational data; strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities; ability to communicate clearly and professionally; ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
• Bonus: Experience with Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, or data visualization tools; interest in manufacturing operations, operational analytics, and process improvement.
