Review and Translation Program Project Manager Intern | Kiva

The Tone:
This is a volunteer internship at Kiva, located remotely in the United States. Kiva is a global nonprofit founded in 2005, connecting lenders with borrowers worldwide through crowdfunded loans, having deployed over $2 billion across 100 countries to over 5 million borrowers. This role is crucial for supporting Kiva’s Review and Translation Program, engaging a vast network of international volunteers who ensure the quality and accessibility of loan profiles, directly contributing to Kiva’s mission of expanding financial access and helping underserved communities thrive.

The TL;DR

• Mission: This person supports and engages Kiva’s international volunteer community and aids in recruiting new volunteers to expand the program’s impact, ensuring the timely review and translation of loan profiles.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Volunteer Engagement: Engage the volunteer community by monitoring discussion boards, coordinating recognition efforts, and posting original messages about loan review needs and Kiva news.
• Recruitment Support: Assist with volunteer recruitment by researching resources, posting job descriptions, and helping with the initial screening of applications.
• Systems Assistance: Provide support for Kiva’s systems, including QA testing and documentation for communication tools, creation of new reference materials, and refining automated email transitions.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate on volunteer engagement logistics by drafting motivational messages, planning volunteer events, and designing and analyzing surveys.
• Process Improvement: Enhance process efficiency by providing input on streamlining recurring volunteer engagement responsibilities and proposing initiatives to minimize manual administration.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Others. An interest in learning more about nonprofit management and microfinance concepts.
• Experience: Demonstrated project management skills with a proven ability to set and meet project deadlines, enjoys problem-solving and relationship-building.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking, strong written and verbal communication skills, highly proactive, organized, able to work independently, intermediate skills in Google Suite, Greenhouse, Salesforce, Slack, and various Kiva internal systems.
• Bonus: At least 21 years of age or older by July 14, 2026, able to commit to the full 6-month term, good communication instincts for differentiating tones between internal and external audiences, able to work with little direction, and a willingness to collaborate in a team environment.
