Public Policy Intern | myGwork – LGBTQ+ Business Community
The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Amazon, located in Arlington, VA. Amazon Public Policy is building the future by addressing a broad range of policy issues across the Americas. This role is crucial for ensuring that Amazon’s business priorities align with public policy goals at federal, state, and local levels. The intern will support the Public Policy team on these efforts at federal, state, and local levels.

• Mission: Collaborate with the Public Policy team to align business priorities with public policy goals.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Policy Development: Help shape Amazon’s position on a variety of policy issues.
• Research: Conduct in-depth research on relevant policy matters.
• External Representation: Interact with trade associations and represent the company at meetings and events.
• Government Assessment: Assess government activities of importance to Amazon and its operations.
• Strategy Development: Anticipate potential government actions and develop mitigation or enhancement strategies for external advocacy efforts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Are a current Master’s degree student in a relevant field.
• Experience: Possess work, internship, or other leadership experience in a professional environment, with demonstrated interest in public policy and government relations.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity; highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to interact comfortably at all corporate and political levels.
• Bonus: A keen understanding of the legislative and regulatory policy process as well as the technology industry; ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals; ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others, making recommendations even in ambiguous situations; self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results.
