Design Coordinator | D.R. Horton

The Tone:
This is a Design Coordinator position at D.R. Horton. The company is the largest homebuilder in the U.S., engaged in the construction and sale of high-quality homes designed principally for the entry-level and first-time move-up markets, also providing mortgage financing and title services. In this role, you will be crucial in coordinating and overseeing the interior and exterior color scheme selection and design for model and inventory homes, as well as assisting homebuyers with their new home selections. Your work directly contributes to the aesthetic appeal and customer satisfaction in new home purchases.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate Design Components: Correlate all interior and exterior color selection components, ensuring design cohesion and staying on top of current design trends for potential changes.
• Manage Model Home Design: Coordinate new model home merchandising and design, overseeing the installation and ongoing maintenance of model homes and sales centers to ensure pristine condition.
• Guide Homebuyer Selections: Assist homebuyers with designated selection packages, explaining, demonstrating, and calculating pricing for upgrade optional items to achieve maximum selection within their financial capacity.
• Maintain Design Data: Accurately input interior and exterior color selection data for all upcoming inventory home starts and new communities into DHI Sales.
• Cultivate Vendor Relationships: Create and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers relevant to home color selection components and option upgrades, assisting in finding suitable replacements when products are discontinued or delayed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is a coordinator-level role requiring a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), focused on the coordination of interior and exterior home design and customer assistance in selections.
• Experience: Requires one to three years of related experience and/or training, including proficiency with MS Office and email applications.
• Skills: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively and interface with other departments.
• Bonus: An Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus, along with JDE knowledge and experience, the ability to work well within a team, and bilingual communication skills.
