Internship, Software Engineer, AI Data Infrastructure (Fall 2026) | Tesla

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Tesla, located in Palo Alto, CA. Tesla designs and manufactures electric vehicles, battery energy storage, solar panels, and related products, including the development of Full-Self-Driving (FSD) and humanoid robots. This role is crucial for the Autonomy Telemetry team, which collects and processes the vast amounts of data essential for fueling the advanced development of FSD capabilities and the functionality of humanoid robots, giving the company a significant competitive advantage.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Architecture: Influence architectural decisions by focusing on security, scalability, reliability, and high performance, enhancing data processing infrastructure.
• Technology Selection: Choose technologies that enable scaling with the growing fleet of vehicles while efficiently utilizing cloud infrastructure and managing costs.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with other Autonomy teams to design and implement backend components required for future Autonomy features and processes.
• Observability: Set up monitoring, metrics, and reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting, from car to cloud.
• Quality Assurance: Author automated tests that will allow for continued merging and deployment with confidence.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field of study. Graduation date must be between December 2026 and December 2027.
• Experience: Practical experience using application layer languages, experience with Linux, networking, storage, and virtualization automation tools, and experience with databases and search indexes.
• Skills: C++, Go, Python, Scala, Java, Linux, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis.
