Bulk Foods Clerk | WinCo Foods
The Tone:
This is an in-person retail role at WinCo Foods, a growing family of over 140 supermarkets across 10 states. • Mission: Set up and maintain the bulk foods department, ensuring product quality and selection while providing friendly, courteous customer service.
• Tech Stack: Knives, wrappers, scales, trash compactors, hand trucks, pallet jacks, fork lift, card board bailer, ladder
What You’ll Actually Do
• Maintain Department Standards: Set up and maintain the condition of the bulk foods department, including bins and machines (e.g., honey, peanut butter), in accordance with company standards.
• Provide Customer Service: Consistently offer friendly and courteous service to internal and external customers, including helping customers find products and engaging in suggestive selling techniques.
• Manage Product Inventory: Break down freight, move product into inventory, place items in barrels and dispensers, and oversee the coffee area, including grinding, making coffee, and stocking.
• Maintain Equipment and Area: Load and clean bulk food machines (e.g., honey, peanut butter), maintain container supplies, and ensure the cleanliness and eye-appeal of work areas, storage areas, and the selling floor.
• Ensure Safety and Cleanliness: Perform duties to maintain a safe and secure work environment and clean the work area by mopping, sweeping, and taking out trash and garbage.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level role in a retail environment requiring the ability to read, follow guides, recipes, and product labels.
• Experience: Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Skills:
• Communication: Ability to communicate with customers to receive orders, upsell, and perform customer relation skills.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects up to 20-30 lbs frequently and 30-50 lbs occasionally, push/pull handtrucks, carts, and pallet jacks of substantial weight, and stand/walk for long periods.
• Manual Dexterity: Exhibit manual dexterity and good hand/eye coordination to perform safe/quick movements and operate related equipment.
• Basic Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Safety & Hygiene: Ability to use cleaning chemicals, handle related food products, and wear personal protective equipment like hats, hairnets, and gloves.
• Bonus: Food Handlers Certification (per State Laws), Must be 16 years of age or older.
