WinCo Foods

Established in Boise, Idaho in 1967 as Waremart, WinCo Foods transitioned to employee ownership in 1985 when its Employee Stock Ownership Trust acquired a majority stake. Since 1999, the company, whose name WinCo stands for “Winning Company,” has operated over 140 grocery stores across ten Western and Southern states, supported by its dedicated distribution and transportation network. With more than 20,000 employee-owners, WinCo Foods continues its legacy of growth and direct ownership.
