Internship, Android Engineer, Mobile Software (Fall 2026) | Tesla
The Tone:
This is an internship at Tesla, located in Palo Alto, CA. Tesla designs and manufactures electric vehicles, battery energy storage, solar panels, and related products for a global market. This role contributes to the core mobile application, supporting critical features that enhance the user experience and interaction with Tesla products. Interns are given ownership over projects essential to their team’s success, fostering technical and personal growth within the company.

• Mission: Develop and maintain features for Tesla’s best-in-class mobile application, including functionalities like smart summon, climate controls, keyless entry, and sentry mode.
• Tech Stack: Swift, Kotlin, Typescript, Android, iOS, React/React Native
What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Design mobile user experiences for the Tesla application.
• Code: Code mobile user experiences to implement new features and improvements.
• Maintain: Maintain existing mobile user experiences, ensuring their ongoing functionality.
• Optimize: Optimize code for enhanced performance, stability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, application/UI software engineers, QA/Validation specialists, and designers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field, with an expected graduation date between 2026 and 2027.
• Experience: Familiarity with programming languages such as Swift, Kotlin, or Typescript, and experience with Android and/or iOS development.
• Skills: Excellent understanding of fundamental computer science concepts, proficiency in solving complex technical problems, and experience using common design patterns with high standards for code quality, maintainability, and performance.
• Bonus: Experience with React/React Native and Kotlin is preferred.
