GIS Intern | AE2S (Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, LLC)

The Tone:
This is an internship at AE2S, located in Lone Tree, CO. AE2S is a specialized civil/environmental engineering consulting firm providing professional services that directly impact communities through real-world water projects. This role is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic GIS coursework in a practical consulting environment, gaining experience with utility and water system data. The intern will support water infrastructure mapping projects, building a strong professional portfolio while contributing to essential community services.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Lone Tree, CO
• Pay: $19.00–$22.00 yearly
• Team: Reports to the GIS Project Manager and Lead GIS Specialist
• Mission: Support water infrastructure mapping projects across Colorado and the Upper Midwest.
• Tech Stack: ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ESRI web tools, Experience Builder, Survey123

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management: Edit, manage, and analyze GIS data using ArcGIS Pro.
• Data Conversion: Convert field-collected data into accurate, well-organized GIS layers for infrastructure mapping.
• Mapping & Reporting: Design clear, client-ready maps and summarize results for reports and presentations following established standards.
• Web GIS Development: Build web maps and applications using ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, and Survey123 for public and stakeholder data collection.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with GIS staff, engineers, and project managers to support project execution.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field, with completed coursework in Intro to GIS and Cartography.
• Experience: Demonstrates foundational GIS technical skills and a willingness to continue learning.
• Skills: Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to solve basic problems with guidance and follow established standards.
• Bonus: Interest in learning how GIS supports project scope, schedule, and budget.
