Intern, Custom Programs | CET Academic Programs
The Tone:
This is an internship at CET Academic Programs, located in Washington, DC, with a hybrid work model. CET Academic Programs, a division of Academic Travel Abroad, Inc. (ATA), is a study abroad organization that develops and operates educational programs abroad since 1982. This role provides an opportunity to learn about and gain firsthand experience in the International Education field, playing a key role in the daily workflow and operations of a study abroad provider. The intern will build valuable skills and be exposed to various aspects of the study abroad program lifecycle, from design and planning to execution, and supporting students. • Team: Custom Programs Team, reports to Custom Programs Senior Manager
• Mission: Support the Custom Programs team in facilitating global program development, student support, and efficient execution of the study abroad program lifecycle.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Outlook, Igloo, SharePoint, Salesforce
What You’ll Actually Do
• Resource Development: Draft and update pre-departure resources, external-facing program proposals, guides, and other documents for new and existing custom program locations.
• Program Research & Strategy: Prepare reports on student trends, conduct research on new opportunities, and make recommendations for program development and student support processes.
• Student Workflow Support: Track and analyze student registration data, manage the Custom inbox, and perform routine follow-up with students for missing application items.
• Institutional Partner Collaboration: Join business development and exploratory intake calls, update internal systems with program details, and ensure contractual deliverables are met for institutional partners.
• Professional Growth: Engage in informational interviews with CET staff from various departments and attend organization-wide meetings and trainings to explore career paths and learn about the field of international education.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An early career professional or current student with an associate or bachelor’s degree in any field, or at least 2 years of college/higher education.
• Experience: A commitment of at least 6 months is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, excellent organization skills, keen attention to detail, and cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
• Bonus: Experience participating in a study abroad or exchange program. Demonstrated interest in the field of International Education or global academic exchanges.
