About the Role

This internship, “2026 Teen Summer Intern – Junior Youth Development Professional,” is a 6-week, part-time position at the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro. Interns will support summer program staff at elementary Club sites, engaging with youth aged 4-10 in games, learning, and enrichment, while assisting in maintaining a fun, safe, and structured environment. The role focuses on developing leadership and youth engagement skills, complemented by weekly career readiness workshops and Bay Area company field trips.

What You’ll Do
• Support Summer Program staff at elementary Club sites
• Engage with youth ages 4–10 in games, learning, and enrichment
• Assist in maintaining a fun, safe, and structured setting
• Develop leadership and youth engagement skills
• Attend weekly Career Readiness Workshops
• Visit three Bay Area Company Field Trips for career exploration
• Present at the Capstone Final Presentation on Thursday, July 16th
• Work on-site Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at assigned Teen Clubhouse or Summer School site
• Be supervised by trained staff at all times and never be left alone with youth

You’re a Good Fit If You
• Have an active BGCSL membership
• Are a rising 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student
• Can provide a valid work permit from your school district prior to starting work (if under 18)
• Have an interest in multimedia arts
• Have availability to attend all scheduled shifts, trainings, and program events
• Have availability to participate in the internship for the entirety of the program (June 8, 2026 – July 17, 2026)
• Are open to learning, feedback, and professional growth
• Demonstrate reliability and responsibility
• Show respect for peers, staff, and program expectations
• Are willing to learn new skills and work in a team
• Are able to frequently stand and move around while assisting youth with equipment and managing the space
• Are able to lift and move technology equipment (up to 25 lbs)
• Are able to frequently bend, reach, and carry items as needed to maintain and organize the space
• Are able to occasionally use basic hand tools for minor repairs or adjustments to equipment
• Are comfortable with occasional exposure to communicable diseases in an office environment (Negative TB screen required)
• Are comfortable with noise levels in the work environment that may range from moderate to loud

• Job Type: Part-Time Internship (25 hours per week)
• Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
• Internship Dates: June 8, 2026 – July 17, 2026
• Shift: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Location: San Leandro, CA (Teen Clubhouse or Summer School site)
• Interns are covered under the organization’s workers’ compensation insurance in accordance with California labor law
