About the Role
The Iowa Democratic Party is hiring Campus Interns for its 2026 coordinated campaign to help Democrats take back power in Iowa at both state and federal levels. This role supports highly competitive elections at all levels and aims to elect Iowa Democrats up and down the ballot, reporting to an assigned Regional Organizing Director.
What You’ll Do
• Support Organizing work done on Campus alongside the Campus Organizer
• Meet student engagement goals through events and activities
• Work to elect Iowa Democrats up and down the ballot by recruiting other student volunteers, and attending events on an assigned campus
• Use relational organizing strategies and tools to effectively communicate with other students on campus the importance of this election and voting
• Build relationships with local activists, stakeholders, and organizations across your campus area
• Other duties as assigned by the Regional Organizing Director
You’re a Good Fit If You
• Strong interpersonal skills and desire to organize for Democrats up and down the ballot
• Reliable access to internet and a cellphone
• Willingness to occasionally report to a local field office
• Strong communication skills – ability to speak with and persuade all kinds of voters
• Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and a willingness to problem-solve
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work long, irregular hours – including weekends
Role Highlights & Compensation
• This position is a part-time position through November 15th, 2026
• Expected to work 10 hours per week in Spring semester and 18 hours in Fall semester as Election Day nears
• Compensated at a rate of $16.54/hour
• Specific working hours will be set around class schedules and other commitments
• Remote work options will not be available for this position
• No experience necessary; all training is provided
