Sustainability & Resiliency Services Intern | Terracon

The Tone:
This is an internship at Terracon, a 100 percent employee-owned multidiscipline consulting firm, operating primarily remotely with options for hybrid work in a nearest Terracon office. Terracon focuses on solving engineering and technical challenges across environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services for clients nationwide. This role supports the company’s Sustainability & Resiliency Services (S+R) group, specifically the Sustainability & Climate Solutions practice, providing meaningful experience in advancing climate-smart and resilient solutions. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to sustainability consulting, learning how data-driven insights and technical analysis help organizations meet their environmental, social, and climate-related goals.

• Role: Internship
• Location: Remote

• Team: Sustainability & Resiliency Services (S+R) group, with a primary focus on the Sustainability & Climate Solutions practice, reporting to a leader/mentor within the practice.
• Mission: To support projects across multiple industries and geographies by applying data-driven insights and technical analysis to help clients meet their environmental, social, and climate-related goals.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word; data analysis or visualization tools (a plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assessments: Assist with sustainability and climate-related assessments, baseline evaluations, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data collection, calculation, and review.
• Planning & Strategy: Support the development of climate action plans and emissions reduction strategies for clients.
• Data Management: Help with sustainability and ESG data management, organization, analysis, quality checks, and documentation.
• Reporting: Provide support for sustainability reporting, disclosure efforts, and the preparation of technical memoranda, figures, tables, and client-facing reports.
• Research & Collaboration: Conduct research and benchmarking of sustainability frameworks, standards, and regulations, and coordinate internally with project managers and subject matter experts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma and currently enrolled in a Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Climate Science, Planning, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related academic program, with at least one year remaining to complete a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience: Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred; strong interest in sustainability, climate change, ESG, or environmental consulting.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Bonus: Experience with data analysis or visualization tools is a plus.
