Junior Pet Stylist in Grooming | Petco

The Tone:
This is an early career training program at Petco, located in-person at a Pet Care Center. Petco is dedicated to helping pets live their best lives by providing essential products, services, and expert support, fostering the pet-human bond. This role is a foundational step in a grooming career, where you will learn essential skills and contribute to the well-being and safety of pets.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to and learns from seasoned groomers
• Mission: Learn to perform fundamental grooming tasks, ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of pets while delivering optimal customer service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn Services: Under close supervision, perform limited grooming services including bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning according to pet parent instructions.
• Ensure Pet Safety: Consistently ensure the well-being and safety of every animal in the salon at all times.
• Provide Customer Service: Interact professionally and effectively with pet parents, providing optimal customer service and resolving grooming-related inquiries.
• Maintain Salon Cleanliness: Keep the grooming area and salon clean and safe, disinfecting tools and performing daily/weekly cleaning duties in adherence to hygiene policies.
• Manage Records: Schedule grooming appointments, manage paperwork, and maintain accurate grooming records.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Genuine passion for animals and a desire to pursue a career in pet grooming.
• Experience: 0-1 year of animal related experience, including shelter volunteering or pet sitting.
• Skills: Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy; effective verbal and written communication skills; basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices; availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Bonus: Prior grooming salon assistance is preferred; High-school diploma or GED is preferred, though not required.
