About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our core Platform & Infrastructure team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the foundational services and infrastructure that power all of Acme Innovations’ products and services. You will work on challenging problems related to scalability, reliability, performance, and developer productivity, directly impacting thousands of users and engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-performance backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Develop and maintain critical infrastructure components, tools, and automation to enhance developer workflows, deployment pipelines, and operational efficiency.
• Lead technical projects from conception to deployment, including architectural design, code reviews, testing strategies, and post-launch monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineering teams, and SRE/DevOps to understand requirements, define technical specifications, and deliver robust solutions.
• Contribute to the evolution of our cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), focusing on optimizing costs, security, and resource utilization.
• Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and foster best practices in coding, testing, and system design within the team.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide support for critical production systems, ensuring high availability and quick resolution of incidents.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to continuously improve our platform’s capabilities and stay ahead of industry trends.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and data privacy regulations across all developed systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a significant focus on backend systems, distributed systems, or platform engineering.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and their core services (e.g., EC2/Compute Engine, S3/Cloud Storage, RDS/Cloud SQL, Lambda/Cloud Functions).
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Solid understanding of database systems, both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Proficiency with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to debug complex issues across distributed systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with messaging queues and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Knowledge of system observability tools (monitoring, logging, tracing) such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Jaeger.
• Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of personal technical projects.
