Job Title: OS&D Clerk, Service Center

As an OS&D Clerk at our Service Center, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our freight operations. This position is central to ensuring accurate receiving, shipping, and inventory management of customer freight, directly contributing to our service quality and customer satisfaction.

Job Summary

The OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) Clerk is responsible for ensuring the accurate receiving and shipping of customer’s freight, maintaining robust inventory integrity, and proactively investigating and reconciling all inventory and shipping discrepancies. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to operational excellence.

Compensation

This position offers a competitive pay rate of $20.48 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Freight Matching and Verification: Accurately match all inbound freight with corresponding billing documents and shipping manifests to ensure correct receiving and record-keeping.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Systematically record and actively work to resolve overages (excess freight), shortages (missing freight), and customer refusals. This includes initiating investigations and coordinating necessary actions to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Inbound Load Processing: Efficiently process and “arrive” inbound loads within the company’s system, updating inventory records and making freight available for subsequent processing or delivery.
  • Billing Operations: Generate and process billing documents as needed for services rendered or freight handled, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
  • Dispatch Assistance: Provide support with dispatching operations as required, which may include coordinating outbound shipments or assisting drivers with routing.
  • Driver Support: Assist drivers by providing essential customer information, delivery instructions, and resolving any immediate on-route queries to facilitate smooth deliveries.
  • Customer Service: Offer professional and courteous assistance to customers regarding their shipments, inquiries, and any service-related concerns, striving for high customer satisfaction.
  • Dock Operations & Equipment: Perform general dock work, including loading, unloading, and organizing freight. Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to move and position shipments as required, strictly adhering to all safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possess basic computer proficiency for data entry and system navigation.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) processes and/or customer service within a logistics or freight environment.
