The Internship Role
This seasonal, part-time, and unpaid internship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the daily functions and strategic initiatives of a contemporary art gallery. Interns will work closely with the gallery founder, receiving direct mentorship and contributing significantly to the execution of our artistic program.
Key Learning Areas & Responsibilities
- Gallery Attending & Visitor Engagement: Gain practical experience in front-of-house operations, including warmly welcoming visitors, providing detailed information about current exhibitions and featured artists, and ensuring an engaging and positive experience for all gallery guests.
- Contemporary Art Acumen: Deepen your understanding of current art movements, critical theories, and artist practices through direct interaction with artworks, exhibition research, and discussions.
- Gallery Management & Operations: Learn the multifaceted aspects of running an art gallery, which may include administrative support, inventory management, archival tasks, and contributing to the overall smooth functioning of the space.
- Exhibition Development & Support: Play an active role in the preparation, installation, and de-installation of current and upcoming artist exhibitions. This involves assisting with logistics, artwork handling, display setup, and ensuring exhibitions are presented professionally and effectively.
- Marketing & Communications Assistance: Contribute to promotional efforts, including social media content creation, drafting exhibition announcements, and assisting with audience outreach strategies.
