The Opportunity: Mill Crew Member – Demopolis SBS Paperboard Mill

This position is for a crew member at the Demopolis Solid Bleached Sulfate (SBS) Paperboard mill, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The primary purpose of this role is to perform various duties that ensure:

• Safe working conditions
• Maximum production output
• Adherence to quality standards
• Preservation of equipment capacity and investment capital

Key Responsibilities & How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock

• Team Collaboration: Work effectively as a member of the machine, finishing, recovery, or pulp crew to produce high-quality SBS paperboard.
• Operational Compliance: Perform all duties essential to the overall function of the assigned crew, strictly complying with established methods, procedures, techniques, safety rules, and regulations.
• Equipment Understanding: Develop an understanding of equipment operation to assist in problem-solving and optimization efforts.
• Training & Development: Train on various jobs within the mill, with advancement based on ability and seniority.
• Safety Engagement: Actively engage in safety improvements and participate in safety meetings.

What You Need To Succeed (Requirements)

• Education: Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Experience: Must have a solid history of employment; 2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Availability: Must be able to work rotating shifts.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise maneuver 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and twist throughout a shift.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
