Business Intelligence Intern | Ashford

The Tone:
This is an internship at Ashford, located in Dallas, Texas. Ashford is a leading provider of asset management and other services specifically to companies within the hospitality industry. This role offers a vital opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of both current and future Business Intelligence products. The intern will be instrumental in supporting all phases of development and maintenance, from initial design to end-user support, and will be responsible for data gathering, strategic analysis, and fulfilling various ad hoc requests.

• Mission: To support all phases of Business Intelligence product development and maintenance, including design, documentation, testing, validation, end-user support, and ongoing system updates.
• Tech Stack: PowerBI, Python, R, SQL, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Assist with the strategic design of new reporting and analytical tools to help the company and its end-users achieve operational objectives.
• Collaborate: Interface directly with Asset Management department subject matter experts to build relationships and meet evolving BI needs, while documenting business rules and use cases.
• Validate: Attend development and implementation sessions, contributing to the overall design of new and existing BI outputs as well as ensuring the validity of the data being used.
• Analyze: Perform strategic reporting and analysis, both scheduled and ad hoc, utilizing Asset Management subject matter experts for guidance to deliver an end product with exceptional quality and accuracy.
• Code: Utilize coding languages, specifically focusing on data analysis and query extraction, to support various job requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in an analytical field (e.g., finance, economics).
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required, but strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Skills: Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to produce high-quality work.
• Bonus: PowerBI experience; knowledge and experience with Python; knowledge and experience with R; knowledge and experience with SQL.
