Communications Internship – Central San

About Central San

Central San is a special district providing essential services including wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal; recycled water production and distribution; and household hazardous waste collection.

Communications Internship Opportunity

General Information:

  • Location: Martinez, CA
  • Commitment: Six months (July 2026 – December 2026)
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Eligibility: Junior or senior standing, or a recent graduate (within the past 12 months)
  • Purpose: Provides practical work experience in a wastewater utility, applying academic preparation.

Administration Department – Communications (1 position)

Central San is seeking a Communications Intern to join its creative Communications Division. This role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, contributing to a wide range of communications projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities and Experience:

  • Assisting with various communications and public relations activities.
  • Developing information products.
  • Coordinating special education projects and events.
  • Managing tour schedules.
  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations and marketing materials.
  • Supporting customer outreach, marketing, events, and community relations.
  • Contributing to publications, student and public education programs, and digital design/production.
  • Assisting individual team members with administrative duties as necessary.

  • High emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse groups (internal and external).

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong ability in Adobe Creative Cloud.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic Standing: Junior/senior level undergraduate student, graduate student, or very recent graduate (within the past 12 months) attending an accredited college in good standing.
  • Major/Degree: Required major or degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Political Science, Journalism, or a similar field.
